According to scientists at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, human cells when exposed to widely used chemicals, such as hydroxytoluene, perfluoroocatanoic acid and the paint compound tributyltin caused people to gain weight. The mechanism seems to damage the hormones that send signals to your brain that you are full. If this system is disrupted people tend to overeat.
Read all your labels, especially processed foods and look for these chemical preservatives. If you are painting your home, make sure the paint does not contain tributyltin.
